A Timely Reminder Of All That Runs True

Wan Light CarmalineSo as my father-in-law would say, I have three days and a wake-up before I fly to Scandinavia.

Starting off in Helsinki and then taking a boat across the Baltic to Stockholm, I don’t suspect the weather will be any warmer in that part of the world.

In fact, in looking back at the crummy weather we’ve had in southern Ohio over the past several weeks, it was probably just to prepare me for what’s to come.

Head bowed, scarf wrapped tightly, walking so fast that I’m largely ignoring those around me.

But wait! What’s that light peaking through the cloudcover? Could it be the Aurora Borealis?

No, no. It’s Wan Light.

Wan light surrounds my heart
Its chimes make light of this dismal plight

The name evokes the moon’s pale reflections off the snow, but is actually taken from an Orange Juice song by the same name.

K. Svensson and M. Karnock. Two guys from Stockholm. Who apparently have a love for Scottish pop.

Yet, their music is more along the lines of Mercury Rev. Which to me means that it’s fucking great.

Check out Wan Light’s blog and then check out their music. If these two songs aren’t enough to get you to buy Carmaline, then you must ask yourself, “Is this what life is all about?”

Buy Carmaline.

  1. They remind me of Australian/New Zealand pop, like The Go-Betweens or Splint Enz, especially in “two words aWAY”. But yes there is a real thick slice of Mercury Rev in the middle of their songs. I likey. Their website is pretty, too. Real icey.
