Eyes Made Out of Coal

QWW

Chicago’s 3rd best band, Quasar Wut Wut, sends along their Christmas song about 12 snowmen and, um, their resistance to shrinkage.

There’s more on their MySpace page or you can d/l some snippets from their page at Glorious Noise Records.

Buy Quasar Wut Wut’s 2004 album, Taro Sound, from CDBaby.

If we’re going for a seasonal theme with a twist… how about the Zamboni’s? :) It is hockey season after all.

You can’t beat a band that’s been around for 15 years and have done all hockey songs. They do everything from ska/reggae (Bob Marley & The Hartford Whalers, The Breakaway), to rockabilly (The Greatest Season), to punk (Shot…Score – the only punk song with a hockey organ), to rock (Wendel, Head in the Game, Guster Plays Hockey), to just plain fun and weird (Hockey Monkey, The Goalie is Drunk, Zamboni Race in Outer Space).

With album titles like: “The Chippy Sessions”, “100% Hockey…and Other Stuff”, “More Songs About Hockey…and Buildings and Food” how can you go wrong? And it’s all on iTunes finally!

I love these guys. My ex introduced me to one of their previous incarnations: the excellent The Happiest Guys in the World. These guys are probably the best garage pop band around.

Thanks for posting the vid! That’s one of my favorite songs ever!

Also in keeping with the season for our Jewish friends: some of the Zamboni guys also have another side project called “The Leevees.” Good stuff…
Love the song “How do you spell Chanuka?”
