Rubies and Crane Wife fell just short of my list if only for the reason that I'd heard them before. While both albums were excellent, I'm not sure they topped previous efforts.

I like all of your picks, and that's why we couldn't agree on a Top 10. Each of us picked the albums that the others didn't. Only consistent albums were Band of Horses, and maybe Phoenix or Islands.

Ah yes. If only my list could be longer. I did rawk the shit out of Destroyer, but it fell a little short of my top 10. I enjoy The Decemberist album as well, but honestly I don't play it as much as I do their prior albums. As far as Six Organs of Admittance, I think it comes out solid with the first six songs - however, the last song is way too indulgent for me.

I'm surprised not to see Destroyer's Rubies or Decemberists' Crane Wife up there. Good call with BPB, "The Letting Go" and M. Ward. I've only recently started spinning Band of Horses and Grizzly bear For Drew's edification, those are all Chaddigan inspired near-misses from my list, but I go with what I know.

Most disappointing albums (that I heard/was advised to listen to):

Tool - 10,000 Days (yes, I bought it and yes, I hated myself for it)
Isis - In the Absence of Truth (why?)
Boris - Pink (even why-er?)
Mars Volta - Amputechture (once awesomely exciting band indulging their worst tendencies)
Sparta - Threes (ditto)
Six Organs of Admittance - The Sun Awakens (and puts me to sleep)
Destroyer - Destroyer's Rubies (still awesome, but it's no "Your Blues")
Eagles of Death Metal - Death By Sexy (I should've known the schtick would get old, I just didn't think it would be so immediate)
The Black Angels - Passover (their debut E.P. was better)
Wolfmother - (ditto)
Nebula - Apollo (it all starts to sound the same after about two songs)
