Electric President produces tasty soundscapes with notes of preciousness, like the Notwist fronted by Kermit’s nephew Robin. I don’t mean precious in any pejorative sense. In fact, I’m naturally inclined to voices such as Ben Cooper’s or Alex Kane’s (whoever’s the singer). I like Tullycraft. I like Warm Wires, and really anything B. Mossman puts out. I like Belle & Sebastian. Check out the website
for Morr Music, Electric President’s current label. How cute is that?! Look at that cute little pink blob and those friendly little squirrels. Check out the title of Electric President’s 2004 EP: You Have the Right to Remain Awesome. And one of their songs is so excellently called Label My Mind: Blown. Isn’t this the stuff of a better life?

Buy the self-titled debut
This is the most incredibly awesome car commercial I have ever seen. The car leaping alone is enough, but cars riding down the stairs on only two wheels? C’mon!
I WANT one of these cars.
Problem is, I think you are required to buy at least two. I mean, have you ever seen one alone?
Can someone please explain when black men dressed in drag became so immensely popular?
Tomorrow Madea’s Family Reunion hits the theaters, about a month before writer/director/star Tyler Perry’s first book Don’t Make a Black Woman Take Off Her Earrings hits the shelves.
Now, the theatrical practice of men dressing in drag is nothing new, of course. Guys have been doing it for comedic and sometimes dramatic effect for over a thousand years and many classic modern comedies involve cross-dressing men (Some Like It Hot, La Cage Aux Folles, and Tootsie come to mind).
m3 online’s recent post about Feist includes a great Postal Service remix of the song Mushaboom. Love Ben Gibbard’s backup vocals on this song.
So as my father-in-law would say, I have three days and a wake-up before I fly to Scandinavia.
Starting off in Helsinki and then taking a boat across the Baltic to Stockholm, I don’t suspect the weather will be any warmer in that part of the world.
In fact, in looking back at the crummy weather we’ve had in southern Ohio over the past several weeks, it was probably just to prepare me for what’s to come.
Head bowed, scarf wrapped tightly, walking so fast that I’m largely ignoring those around me.
But wait! What’s that light peaking through the cloudcover? Could it be the Aurora Borealis?
No, no. It’s Wan Light.
Wan light surrounds my heart
Its chimes make light of this dismal plight
The name evokes the moon’s pale reflections off the snow, but is actually taken from an Orange Juice song by the same name.
K. Svensson and M. Karnock. Two guys from Stockholm. Who apparently have a love for Scottish pop.
Yet, their music is more along the lines of Mercury Rev. Which to me means that it’s fucking great.
Check out Wan Light’s blog and then check out their music. If these two songs aren’t enough to get you to buy Carmaline, then you must ask yourself, “Is this what life is all about?”
