Super Furry Addiction

Strangely similiar to the Mazarin photo....hmmm

The flowers are blooming, baby birdies are hatching, and the bees are buzzing. Is that love that I smell in the air? It just might be; it just might be. I definitely do smell spring in the air. It is that time again! You may not be able to depend on the weather quite yet, but the one thing you can depend on is that the whole Super Furry Animals catalog is back into rotation on my ipod. Welcome back old friends. This is my springtime ritual. They illustrate the pure essence of a new spring beginning perfectly with the lyric turned mantra You’ve got to tolerate/all the people that you hate/I’m not in love with you/but I won’t hold that against you. What better soundtrack for my goofy-ass spring-bloomed smile?

This is a beautiful way to start the day. Here is my recipe for a springtime morning commute of love:

  1. Left hand on the steering wheel
  2. Coffee in right hand
  3. Windows down
  4. Super Furry Animals in the ear holes
  5. Goofy-ass smile turned up to 11

Mix and serve over ice. yum.

You really can’t go wrong with any Super Furry Animals album. If you have yet to bask in the radiance of their good vibrations, I would recommend the album Guerrilla as a good starting point. If that is not available, snag yourself a copy of Rings Around the World. If you are already well inventoried, try putting them all on shuffle and see what happens, a Super Furry Smorgasbord if you will. You won’t be disappointed.

Here! Put a lil spring in your, uh, spring with these tracks:

These tracks by no means summarize their sound.

So do the noble thing and get your Stinkweeds on!

I’d never thought about it before, but you’re absolutely right: SFA does sound like Spring! Thanks for reminding me to throw some of their tracks onto my dap.

I submit “Slow Life” in conjunction with the spring-appropos practice of the Taoist principle of Man, translated as “living slow.” Also, “Bass Tuned to DEAD,” because, like the one-man bumpersticker machine Willie Shakespeare said, ‘not all who wander are lost’. Or was that Tolkien? Or was it Homer…Simpson? And lastly, “Tradewinds” for those that are feeling the burn or non-burn of the Santa Anas right now, or whenever they may blow.
