Danielson

Man the jib, hold the course, and port the starboard (?), motor-boatin’ sunsabitchin’ Danielson just sailed into town. Br. Danielson and co., all (sea) decked out in their sailor uniforms, found themselves ship-wrecked in the intense desert heat of Phoenix. This crew’s mission: to put on a production of the excellent new album Ships.

The rockin’ (but not tippin’ over) sextet mini-orchestra grandly performed the album almost in it’s entirety, and was very much anchored by Daniel Smith’s signature vocal stylee. The course of the evening was filled with trumpet crushing stories, snap-a-longs, clap-a-longs, sing-a-longs, synchronized movements, cute lil’ dragons, faux disco lights, and a dance party that left the crowd bobbing like a gaggle of buoys at high tide.

The small and confined venue that is Modified Arts resembled a lava-fueled toaster oven on this particular excursion. By the end of the night, the high energy performance combined with the state of the venue produced an audienced induced sea of sweat that cast Danielson’s stage a drift into the moonlight, and onto the next destination. Bon voyage with five stars and two thumbs up!

  2. From The Danielson Family to the Danielson Famile to Brother Daniel to Danielson. I think he should put out an album that includes a mess of Japanese instruments and call himself Daniel-san.

  3. Glad to see Ringo’s onboard for the voyage, newly dismissed from his stint ‘neath the waves…in a Yellow Submarine. Ah-ha!!!
